Our Approach

The Edgeworth Club is a place of elegance, social events, and sporting activities. Following the sudden collapse of the rotunda ceiling adjacent to the main lobby, extensive debris blanketed the entrance and damaged the balcony and grand staircase.

Immediately on-site following the collapse, AE Works worked with the General Manager to assess damage and secure the hazardous area. Our turnkey building project team partnered with the client to quickly restore the facility so they could maintain operations. Creative application of decorative drapes and screens were deployed quickly to keep the polished atmosphere intact throughout the six-month construction schedule.

Impact

To progress the restoration in a condensed time frame and ensure the work was within the client’s insurance allotment, AE Works responded with a complete design - led design - build team to oversee design, budget and construction. This allowed our team to work closely during both design and construction with the wide range of specialty contractors needed to support this level of historic restoration. The result is the project staying on track throughout the COVID -19 pandemic.

The complete restoration of the grand entry replaced the rotunda ceiling, upgraded finishes, and refurbished the grand staircase. New downlights were added to enhance lighting and provide for safe egress for the entire balcony and the upper stairway. The finishing touches of new draperies, carpet, chandelier, and two Edgeworth Club insignias in the first floor railing landing completely bring this grand entrance back to life.

“Whereas many projects are expected, we came into a partnership with AE Works in a time of crisis following a structural failure. Not only did the team at AE Works deliver top notch service, provide quick response - time, and exceed expectations for quality, they delivered our project during a pandemic, within financial expectations, and in a manner which honored the traditions of our 1930’s Clubhouse. Our membership is grateful for the partners we have at AE Works.”
