AE Works provided comprehensive planning and architectural design across more than 650,000 square feet of the multi-phase development. Spanning several LEED-certified Class-A office core-and-shells, specialized corporate office fit-outs, and a 300-unit multifamily residential community, the design vision established a sustainable, cohesive architectural language that reconnected the district with the Allegheny River and the Three Rivers Heritage Trail network.

2501 Smallman Street - Office Building Core and Shell
A 54,000-square-foot Class-A “urban-flex” office building that is LEED-Certified. As the inaugural project of the ambitious 3 Crossings Development, it set the precedent for future buildings in the area with its contemporary design and efficient use of space.

2501 Smallman Street - Rycon Construction Office Fit-out
This 23,000-square-foot, two-story corporate headquarters fit-out creates a modern office space designed to showcase the firm's craftsmanship. The office features custom millwork, computer-cut wood ceilings, and a monumental connecting staircase linking the reception area to second-floor multi-purpose and balcony spaces.

Riverfront West

Riverfront West – Office Building Core and Shell
A 130,500-square-foot Class-A office building and the fourth structure in the initial phase of the 3 Crossings development. This LEED Gold-certified metal and glass structure was designed to complement the neighboring buildings while forming the central hub for the city's burgeoning technology sector.

Riverfront West – Excelitas Office Fit-Out
Our most recent work at 3 Crossings, this 45,000-square-foot office fit-out is designed to foster innovation and collaboration for a global technology company. The space features flexible workstations, collaborative meeting areas, and specialized labs, along with sustainable building systems.

Riverfront East – Office Building Core and Shell
A 110,000-square-foot Class A office building that aims to reconnect the area with the natural amenities of the revitalized riverfront and the Three Rivers Heritage Trail network. This LEED Silver-certified building transforms former trucking yards into a forward-thinking, sustainable neighborhood.

The work also restored public connection to the Allegheny River, setting a resilient standard for urban adaptive reuse.
