AE Works, a leading building design and consulting firm, announced the opening of a new office in Downtown Pittsburgh’s historic Union Trust Building. The move brings the Pittsburgh-headquartered firm into the heart of the city and represents a continued investment in the region where AE Works was founded.
The Next Chapter Downtown
As AE Works approaches its 20th anniversary in 2027, the move marks the next chapter for a firm that has grown from a Pittsburgh startup into a nationally recognized architecture and engineering firm. The new location provides a central home for its growing team while strengthening connections to clients, partners, and the broader Pittsburgh business community.
“Pittsburgh is where AE Works started, and we believe strongly in where the city is headed. There is real momentum Downtown, and we want to be part of it. We are excited about the leadership Mayor Corey O’Connor and others are bringing to Pittsburgh and proud to make this investment in the city’s future.”

Championing Collective Growth
The move also builds on AE Works’ dedication to championing the collective growth that occurs when businesses invest in their own community. Through these efforts, AE Works has been part of a broader conversation about what makes people choose Pittsburgh and, importantly, what makes them choose to stay. The Downtown office puts that commitment into action.
“Our new office is about more than where we work. It is about creating the kind of environment that brings our people together and connects us more closely to the city around us. We want our team to be excited about coming Downtown, engaging with the community, and being part of Pittsburgh’s continued growth. This is an investment in our people and in the future of AE Works.”
- Dave Andros, President and COO of AE Works
Historic Architecture Meets Next-Gen Design
Completed in 1915 under the commission of industrialist and financier Henry Clay Frick, the historic Union Trust Building is one of Downtown Pittsburgh’s most recognizable landmarks. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building was designed by Pittsburgh architect Frederick J. Osterling in a distinctive Flemish-Gothic style.
AE Works will occupy a two-story suite centered around a large open atrium with views of the building’s intricate roof structure. The new workplace includes collaborative meeting spaces, open offices, and a kitchen café designed to bring employees together and support the firm’s collaborative approach to work.
