Sara Lappano is a Registered Professional Engineer and industry leader with a Master’s in Architectural Engineering from Penn State and over two decades of specialized experience in higher education, healthcare, and government markets. As EVP, Client Strategy & Engagement, she bridges client vision with project delivery through focused stakeholder communication, collaborative problem-solving, and strategic planning—aligning every engagement with AE Works’ standards.
A recognized authority in low-carbon and net-zero energy building design, Sara has led high-profile projects nationwide, including Princeton University’s Low Carbon Geoexchange Central Plant, George Mason University’s Horizon Hall, the Living Building Challenge–certified Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Brock Environmental Center, and the award winning ALCOSAN’s Environmental Compliance Facility to support a $2B clean water plan. She champions design leadership and service excellence, shaping AE Works’ culture and client experience while leveraging the firm’s full suite of capabilities to make building projects a better value.
