A National-Caliber Competition and Training Facility
The ASPC will provide a national-caliber competition and training venue, supporting the University’s athletic excellence and recruitment efforts within the Atlantic Coast Conference. Our design integrates multi-purpose athletic spaces with student-focused amenities to enhance training and foster community. The arena and sports center will accommodate elite athlete’s performance needs while offering spaces that contribute to well-being and engagement for the broader campus community.
Enhancing the Student Experience
This facility will not only elevate Pitt’s standing in collegiate athletics but also enhance the student experience across the university. Through specialized training facilities and holistic wellness spaces, Pitt athletes will gain a competitive edge. Simultaneously, the ASPC will create student gathering areas, encouraging social interaction and enriching campus life.

Sustainability
Sustainability is a core component of the design, with the design team pursuing LEED Gold certification or higher. Key features include a 63,543-square-foot green roof, which captures stormwater and reduces the heat island effect, and 18,337 square feet of outdoor activity space that improves campus accessibility between Upper and Lower campus areas. The facility will also incorporate rainwater capture through two on-site underground cisterns, and include nearly 50 bicycle parking spaces, urban heat island reduction strategies, and access to quality transit and Pitt shuttle routes.
