University of Houston, Student Center
the University of Houston's growing reputation opened new doors for the University and its community, but establishing a place of community on campus was a challenge with a student center from the 1960s. This transformation and addition to the University Center created a ‘next generation’ student life center.

Building Community through Design
This renovated campus 'living room' serves as a place for students to work, catch up with friends, relax, and enjoy the campus community.
The centerpiece for student life in this complex is a three-story arbor/atrium that is a crossroads and gathering place for the entire university community, physically and visually connecting the dynamic activities central to the building.
Creating the Heart of Campus
The exterior of the building was transformed to present a bold and inviting presence on campus.
The expansive glass maximizes transparency and has a welcoming form showcasing the activities inside and inviting students into the heart of campus activity.
A Fully Equipped Student Union
A 440-seat theater, large event spaces, bookstore, dining services, retail services, bowling alley, and administrative offices have been reconfigured and revitalized while a new north wing houses student organization.
We partnered with WHR Architects to design this dynamic student life project.
