The project began with a detailed feasibility study, engaging students, faculty, and administrators through focus groups and open forums to gather insights on the center's existing strengths and areas for improvement.
By benchmarking against peer institutions and prioritizing collaboration, wellness, and accessibility, we developed a design that integrates a new east-to-west corridor, centralized information desk, and enhanced dining facilities.
The phased renovation will also upgrade mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for improved efficiency and sustainability.
This renovation will significantly enhance student engagement and community interaction by providing versatile spaces that accommodate a wide range of activities, from casual dining to large events.
With improved accessibility and modernized facilities, the Kilcawley Student Center will foster a welcoming environment that embodies the spirit of Youngstown State University, ultimately enriching the student experience and promoting a vibrant campus culture.
